Recovering Memories

Hello! *waves* I'm that elusive Sparrow person, and I also go by Allie. A quick introduction, though I don't like to belabour the point: We think of me as something like fae, or that is a good metaphor, anyhow. I like to spend my time out in nature for the most part, but I also have an interest (along with my people) in studying the world, cultures, languages, and so forth. You might call us archivists. We like a good party, too -- fresh food, a bonfire, dancing, chanting, poetry...

I met Fuzzy by way of a sort of merged journeying. What finally brought her understanding that I was separate is actually the exact topic that I have to talk about today: recovering memories. She was visiting my people, and "she" suddenly started talking about things that she didn't know or understand.

Find those memories! )

Hopefully that was interesting and/or useful. :] If you have further questions or comments, feel free to post them! Or send me a Dreamwidth message if you like.

Hello~! <waves> I've wanted to contribute something for a little while, but I guess I haven't had very much on hand to talk about. We thought of one the other day, though, so I'll give it a try.

First, a short introduction: I go by Dove (the one FuzzyJayling referred to earlier), and also Annie. I try not to put too fine a point on what I am precisely, because I think it invites stagnation (and argumentation). And more to the point, I'm still trying to understand that, myself. :) But the archetype of relevance for me is an angel, or perhaps a "celestial" is more apropos. A helper to the divine. As many humans stretch for the divine, I am, a little ironically, stretching for humanity. ^^ I wish to understand and experience. Perhaps one time or another, I'll be born here, too. But that's neither here nor there.

You know, I'm going to call her Fuzzy. :D

We have a long history by way of a number of rituals, journeys, and dreams. She first met me in a dream, and then later, during a journey, we actually spoke consciously for the first time. I think that she saw me as another part of herself, perhaps a past life, or a personal guide, or even her guardian angel. I can't say that any of that is wrong, really. I just don't know.

This goes back a little bit to what she wrote earlier, about Credulity, as well as (depending on your beliefs and experiences) a general sense that the thing you're talking to may not be the thing you think you're talking to. You want to know that you're receiving true advice/conversation, and not the fears of your subconscious, or (if you believe in them) something malicious trying to fool you. This is doubly important when you start to talk about letting them borrow you and influence your magic in this world. So we've developed some authentication systems, so to speak.

Get the rest, read all about it! :) )

I guess I ended up writing from more of the out-here perspective after all. ^^; I'm not as good of a writer as Fuzzy (a little verbose and unorganised), but I hope that was helpful!

Introduction

I wanted to start by introducing our family. We are three women who identify with fae and angelic energy. Pseudonymously, we tend to go by the names of animals with whom we feel an affinity.

I've gone by fuzzyjayling on Tumblr, though I've had a lot of wolf influences lately, so I guess I'm in flux. ^^; I decided to retain the name for now. (It's unfortunate that Jay is typically a guy's name... hah.) I tend to identify with fae energy. You could call me the innkeeper. I'm the one who was born here and I spend most of my time here. I found the other two by inner journeying. (Or maybe they found me. :) We've become very close, though. I'm into cities and nature, technology and simplicity, all sorts of contradictions. I identify as pagan.

Next is Dove, who identifies with angelic energy. Less of the Judeo-Christian variety and more of a general helper to the divine. Her big thing is song, or rather Song. Also starlight (and by extension, sunlight). Lately she has been on a quest to understand and experience being human. Also, currently obsessed with cheesecake.

The third is Sparrow, who identifies with fae energy. She likes to spend her time in the wilds, telling stories and poetry, dancing around fires. She's vegetarian and prefers her food close to its source; she's obsessed with strawberries. :D

We like to write all of us into rituals we write. For the ones I go to, they sometimes participate from inside. They are also able to participate directly if we desire, by way of something akin to (but not identical to) "riding". Each of us brings a unique perspective to a ritual. Sparrow, for example, was involved in an ecstatic dance workshop and rocked it; we got compliments afterward. I had frozen and wallflowered. ^^; Dove has a special kind of calm and enjoyment in interacting with others, and of course Song. I'm very into the earthy aspects of rituals, and often alchemical associations.

It's often, almost always really, that we have not felt comfortable sharing that we are three, all participating sometimes. This is sad. I wish to change this, so I'm setting up this group, to open a conversation. Many people experience speaking with spirits in trees or visiting them in guided meditations, or whatnot. That some of us have taken it a step further and invited them to share our lives should not be so strange or scary as it is to many people. (I'm not saying it's never bad, just that there are plenty of cases where it's not bad, and is in fact awesome.)

I also feel that it's sometimes dishonest to bring two extra, actively participating people into a circle without saying anything to the celebrant(s), so I'd like to have a dialogue about how to handle such things. In general I would like for groups like us to come out of the shadows, and be able to discuss freely.

(Also, I've already broken my own rules in regards to long posts and cuts... mea culpa. ^^; But I suspect this will be quiet for a while anyhow, and it's all germane to the establishing the topic of the group.)

Welcome / Rules

Hello, and welcome to the group! This is a place, as the title implies, to discuss magic, spirituality, religion, etc, in the context of not being alone inside. Sort of a "plural perspectives on spirituality" type of thing. This could be in regards to plural systems, familiar spirits, shamanic or spirit guides who hang out near the surface, membership in a cooperative collective consciousness, or anything similar. You do not have to identify as such if you are interested or want to discuss the topic on here; all constructive conversation is welcome.

There are very few rules for the group:

- Post submissions are moderated; if you consistently post good stuff, we may go ahead and let you post without moderation. If it's obvious you were trying, and we can't accept the submission, we'll let you know why. Posts are good! We like posts! We just want them to be good posts.

- Please try to stay on topic with posts. (e.g. "we had this great kind of gestalten experience the other day" is okay, but "did you see what Famous Actor did?!" is not. "We went to a carnival the other day and..." is arguably off topic too, but may be tolerated for the sake of providing some positive discussion of what it's like outside of spiritual topics. :) For long posts, please use cuts.

- Likewise with comments on posts, try to stay on topic.

- Do not pass judgement on people's "plural" form or spirituality, whether it's a "real" phenomenon or not, whether it's "advisable", or so on. That's different from real, constructive knowledge seeking, and I'm sure you know the difference. Don't judge in general! This is intended to be a safe place, as much as possible in a public forum. Any persistent harassment or badgering will likely result in being dropped.

Also, not to scare anyone away, but I do recommend exercising caution in revealing your identity in comments. The internets are forever.

That said, please enjoy!
